Udaipur rewards a route planned in the right order. Start at the City Palace when it opens at 9:30 and you walk the Zenana Mahal before the tour buses arrive. Do Saheliyon ki Bari at midday when the fountains are running, keep Sajjangarh for the last hour of light, and finish at Bagore ki Haveli for the seven o’clock Dharohar show. Get that order wrong and you spend the afternoon stuck at Chetak Circle.
Our chauffeurs have driven this loop for years. They know which gate of the City Palace has parking, which boat jetty at Lake Pichola has the shorter queue in season, and that the Karni Mata ropeway shuts earlier than the sign says in winter. You are not paying for a car so much as for somebody who has already made every wrong turn on your behalf.
The day runs on a simple clock: eight hours and eighty kilometres from the time we reach your hotel. Go longer and it is ₹200 an hour, told to you at the start. Monument tickets, the Pichola boat and parking are paid at the counter by you, at the printed rate — we do not mark them up and we do not collect them.

Planning your Udaipur sightseeing day
Most guests have either one day or two. With one day you can comfortably see the City Palace, Jagdish Temple, Saheliyon ki Bari, Fateh Sagar and Sajjangarh, and still make the evening show. With two days the pace relaxes: the second day opens up Badi Lake, Shilpgram, the Maharana Pratap Gaurav Kendra and enough time at Jag Mandir to actually sit down on the island rather than photograph it and leave.
Seasons change the plan
Between October and March the light is good all day and Sajjangarh is worth doing late. In the monsoon the Monsoon Palace earns its name — clouds sit on the hill and the view disappears — so we move it earlier and give more time to the palace interiors. In May and June we start at 8 AM, break between one and four, and finish in the evening, which is far more pleasant than fighting forty-two degrees at noon.
Two-day itinerary we recommend
- Day 1 — City Palace, Crystal Gallery, Jagdish Temple, old city bazaars, Lake Pichola boat at sunset, Dharohar folk dance at Bagore ki Haveli.
- Day 2 — Saheliyon ki Bari, Fateh Sagar, Maharana Pratap Gaurav Kendra, Shilpgram, Sajjangarh for sunset, Doodh Talai ropeway if time allows.
If you have a third day, the best use of it is not more of Udaipur — it is Kumbhalgarh and Ranakpur, or Nathdwara and Eklingji. Both are covered on their own pages with fares.

₹1,800 for a sedan and ₹2,500 for an Innova Crysta, covering 8 hours and 80 km with hotel pickup and drop. Anything beyond that is ₹200 per hour for a sedan and ₹250 for an Innova, and we tell you before the meter of the day starts.
No, and deliberately so. You pay entry at the counter at the printed rate — City Palace is roughly ₹300–₹400, Sajjangarh ₹100 plus a vehicle charge, and the Bagore ki Haveli evening show ₹90–₹150. If we collected it we would have to mark it up.
Our chauffeurs know the city and will happily tell you what you are looking at, but they are not licensed guides. For a proper guided commentary inside the City Palace we can arrange an approved government guide in English or Hindi for an additional fee — ask when booking.
Whatever time you want. The sensible start is 9 AM so you reach the City Palace close to opening. In May and June we suggest 8 AM with a long lunch break. For a night tour we pick up around 6 PM.
The drive and the wait are included, the ticket is not. Boat tickets are bought at the City Palace jetty and prices change by season and by whether you want the Jag Mandir stop. The driver will drop you at the jetty and wait in the parking.
No — those are outside the 80 km city limit and make a different kind of day. Kumbhalgarh with Ranakpur is 84 and 91 km out, Nathdwara is 48. Both have their own day-trip fares, which we are happy to quote.
