Overview
Rajasthan is a driving state. We have been driving it since 1997.
Trains in Rajasthan are good at connecting cities and hopeless at connecting the places worth stopping for. Ranakpur has no station. Kumbhalgarh has no station. Neither does Jawai, or Haldighati, or the stretch of road between Udaipur and Jodhpur where the Aravallis do something interesting for forty minutes. An outstation car is not a luxury here; it is how the state is meant to be seen.
Our outstation work runs on a plain per-kilometre tariff with a stated driver allowance, a 250 km daily minimum, and tolls at actuals. That is the whole structure. There is no fuel surcharge, no AC charge, no hill charge and no separate charge for a route that happens to be scenic.
Multi-day trips get the same driver throughout. By the third day he knows that you like to stop for tea at eleven and that your mother cannot manage a long walk from the parking, and he plans around it. That continuity is the single biggest difference between an operator and an app.

What we insist on for long trips
Outstation driving is where cutting corners shows. These are the things we do not negotiate on.
- Vehicles serviced at the authorised workshop, not the cheapest mechanic on the highway
- Every car carries a valid All-India Tourist Permit and comprehensive insurance
- Two drivers on any single-day run longer than 500 km
- Driver rest built into the plan — a tired man at the wheel on NH-58 is not a saving
- Spare tyre checked, tool kit present, first-aid box stocked before departure
- Live location shared with the family member who is not travelling, on request
- One coordinator on WhatsApp for the whole trip, not a new number every morning

Outstation taxi from Udaipur — reading the tariff
Outstation pricing in Rajasthan follows a convention that confuses first-time visitors, so here it is in plain terms. You pay per kilometre on the total distance the car runs, including its return to Udaipur. A minimum of 250 km is counted per calendar day, so a short first day and a long second day average out. A ‘day’ ends at midnight, not twenty-four hours after pickup — which matters if you leave at 6 PM.
A worked example
Udaipur to Jodhpur and back over three days in an Innova Crysta: the running comes to roughly 650 km including local sightseeing in Jodhpur. Three days at a 250 km minimum is 750 km, so you are billed on 750. At ₹12 per kilometre that is ₹9,000, plus ₹600 for two driver nights, plus toll at actuals. We will put that arithmetic in writing before you confirm, so there is nothing to argue about at the end.
When a package beats a per-km hire
For the standard circuits — three days in Udaipur, Jodhpur with Jaisalmer, the Pink City run — our fixed-price tour packages usually work out cheaper than per-kilometre hire, because the routing is known and we can price it tightly. If your plan matches a package, we will point you at it rather than quietly billing you per kilometre.
Crossing state lines
Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi are all routine. The border permit is charged at cost with the receipt in your hand. Ahmedabad is a five-hour run on a good road; Indore is seven and a half via Ratlam; the Statue of Unity at Kevadia is a comfortable day out from Udaipur if you leave early.

No. A day runs midnight to midnight, which is the convention across Rajasthan. If you start at 6 PM, that evening counts as day one. We flag this at booking so it is never a surprise on the bill.
Yes. Extra kilometres are billed at the same per-km rate you agreed at the start — no premium for a change of mind. Just tell the driver, and he will let the office know so the paperwork keeps up.
Regularly. All our outstation vehicles carry All-India Tourist Permits. Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Kevadia, Indore and Ujjain are routine runs. Border permit charges are passed on at cost with the receipt.
