Overview
Some of Udaipur is better on two wheels.
The lanes behind Jagdish Temple, the road that curls around Fateh Sagar at six in the morning, the climb to Sajjangarh before the gate opens — these are all better on a two-wheeler than in a car. A scooter parks where a sedan simply cannot, and the ride out to Badi Lake at sunrise is one of the nicest half-hours the city offers.
We keep Honda Activa scooters for city use and Royal Enfield Bullets — the Classic 350 and the Electra — for riders who want to take the Kumbhalgarh or Ranakpur road properly. Everything is serviced between rentals, comes with two helmets, and is handed over with a full tank and a photograph record of the existing scratches so there is no argument at the end.
This is a self-drive service, so the paperwork matters. A valid driving licence and an original photo ID are required, we take a refundable security deposit, and we will not hand over a Bullet to somebody who has never ridden one. That last rule costs us bookings and we keep it anyway.

Renting a bike or scooty in Udaipur
For getting around the city an Activa is the practical choice: light, easy in the old-city lanes, cheap to run, and it parks in gaps a car driver can only envy. Two people and a day bag fit comfortably. For anything beyond forty or fifty kilometres, a Bullet is the better machine — the Ranakpur road through the Aravallis is worth doing on a Classic 350 at least once.
Good rides out of Udaipur
- Badi Lake — 12 km, best at sunrise, the road is quiet before eight
- Sajjangarh and Doodh Talai — short, steep, and worth timing for sunset
- Eklingji and Nathdwara — 22 and 48 km on a good highway
- Jaisamand Lake — 50 km south, one of Asia’s largest artificial lakes
- Ranakpur via the Desuri ghat — 91 km, the best motorcycling road in Mewar
- Kumbhalgarh — 84 km, a long day but a superb one
Riding sensibly here
Udaipur traffic is dense in the old city and fast on the bypass. Cows have right of way and know it. In the monsoon the ghat roads towards Ranakpur and Kumbhalgarh get slick and the descents deserve respect. We give every renter a short briefing on the routes they are planning, which takes five minutes and has prevented a number of bad afternoons.

Plenty of guests rent a scooter for the city and a car with a driver for the longer days. We are happy to do both on the same booking, and it is often the sensible combination — the Activa for morning coffee by the lake, the Crysta for Kumbhalgarh.

An original valid driving licence and one photo ID — Aadhaar, passport or voter card. Foreign visitors need a passport with visa and an International Driving Permit or a valid home-country licence. We also take a refundable deposit.
₹500 for twenty-four hours, or ₹3,000 for a week. A Royal Enfield Classic 350 is ₹1,200 a day and the Electra ₹1,100. Fuel is not included; the bike is handed over with a full tank.
Two helmets with every booking, at no charge. Rajasthan law requires them and Udaipur traffic makes a strong practical case as well.
The same day, as soon as the vehicle is back and checked. We photograph existing damage together at pickup, so the return check takes two minutes and there is nothing to dispute.
Kumbhalgarh and Ranakpur, yes — they are superb rides and within Rajasthan. Leaving the state needs prior permission from us. In the monsoon we will advise against the ghat descents if the weather is poor.
Call us. We provide breakdown support anywhere in Udaipur district and will arrange a replacement or a recovery. Punctures on the road are the rider’s to fix, but we will talk you to the nearest shop.
